| 1 October 2009 - Washington DC, USA |
The Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA) is delighted to announce that Universal Asset Management (UAM) has become the latest key member of the aircraft end-of-life community to join the global industry body dedicated to promoting best practice in the field of aircraft disassembly and recycling.
UAM is a leading aircraft dismantling and components recycling organisation based in the US, with facilities in Memphis, Atlanta, Phoenix, Walnut Ridge and Pocahontas. UAM is a proven industry leader in a variety of fleet types and only uses A&P licensed mechanics throughout the disassembly processes, setting unprecedented industry standards.
AFRA Executive Director and General Manager, Chateauroux Air Centre, Martin Fraissignes warmly welcomed AFRA’s newest member: ‘It is gratifying that yet another important aircraft dismantling organisation is keen to join AFRA. Our industry wide reputation as the leading global voice for environmentally responsible aircraft disassembly continues to hold significant appeal. I have no doubt that UAM will make valuable inputs into the work of AFRA, both in the further development of our Best Management Practice Guides but also in its ability to contribute to the collaborative partnerships which are an essential element of the AFRA offer’.
UAM’s Chief Operating Officer Keri Wright noted: ‘As an industry leader in aircraft disassemblies and component recycling, we believe our AFRA membership is the next logical affiliation. This membership provides an opportunity for us to share our successful standards and contribute to the improvement of industry aircraft disassembly standards’.
Wright also stated, ‘more and more airlines are considering recertified components as an affordable alternative to OEM components. Our vast inventory of components for the regional jets to 777’s, coupled with our repair station, offers customers one-stop shopping at prices that can’t be beaten.’
