Dedicated to the Efficient and Environmentally-Sound Handling of the World's Aging Aircraft
Efficient Dismantling
Through dismantling and recycling of the metal, plastic and composite materials of retiring aircraft, the aerospace industry can maximize the value of its aging investments.
AFRA has developed Best Management Practices for dismantling aircraft in an efficient and environmentally-sound manner. And we are focused on continuous improvement and expansion of the scope of the BMP to seek ever greater efficiencies.
Industry-Driven, Global Focus
AFRA is an international organization, drawing members and leaders from across the globe in its quality, efficiency and environmental initiatives.
The association is a working partnership of OEMs, aircraft disassemblers and parts distributors, aircraft insurers and appraisers, materials recyclers and technology developers, all with a common focus on an industry-developed solution to managing of the world's aging aircraft fleet.

The AFRA membership has developed Best Management Practices for Management of Used Aircraft Parts and Assemblies, working together across nations and industries to promote improved operations, enhanced safety, greater efficiency and environmental stewardship in the reclamation of aircraft parts. The AFRA BMP is the highest standard in the aircraft recycling industry. Version 2.0 of the standard was released in May 2009, providing the industry with new safety enhancement recommendations.
Any company involved in the management of used aircraft parts and assemblies can be audited to the AFRA BMP standard through the AFRA Accreditation Program. AFRA auditors have extensive experience in aerospace safety and adhere to AFRA's rigorous safety standards.
